@vfiles Presents Dont Call Me Other ( Conversations WIth Joey Badass & Wes Moore
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore vetoes a Reparations Commission bill, saying it's time for action—not more studies. The bill had strong legislative support. Black lawmakers say the move delays justice. Thoughts?

Tomorrow will be a different day in America. Hopefully this evening, an unprecedented Democratic flip of Governorships across the country will be a reflection of the people realize what role individual states will have on our rights and lives. My friend, @iamwesmoore and the next First Lady of #MARYLAND @dawnflythemoore executed a meticulous campaign for the people of the state of Maryland. Without false predictions, I can ahead of any results declare my pride of their strength & integrity. Their large team of advisors, volunteers, believers, and those that listened to their vision understood their commitment as public servants. This is one that brings me tears of joy #WESMOORE will tonight become the first Black Governor of Maryland. Maryland is one of the first English Colonies under the King of England to then establish itself as one of the First 13 states of our nation. Maryland was the 1st state to abolish slavery after being the boarder point to crossing into freedom and was the last dangerous last leg of torturous journeys on the Underground Railroad from the south. Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas and countless enslaved blacks that endured the African Slave Trade, taken to the southern states fled through Maryland to get to freedom. Tonight, WES MOORE could win the overwhelming majority vote to become the First Black Governor of this beautiful state… in which I was born & raised. Everyone please vote in these final hours if you have not. Save our democracy that began in states such as Maryland 👣🦀#VOTE before polls closed this evening! Wes & Dawn , I am so grateful to you… may God watch over you in your next season in leading Maryland and our country 🙏🏽🇺🇸📣 (at Maryland) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ckt41djvP9K/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
It’s difficult to understand why any police officer would back Wes Moore.
As questions continue to swirl about the validity of a narrative portrayed in a book written by a candidate for governor in Maryland, the fa
It’s difficult to understand why any police officer would back Wes Moore. He made money off a book, where he compared his life to that of a convicted murder of an on duty police officer, supported the reallocation of police funds, while holding them responsible for systematic racism AND according to the slain officer’s family, they did not support the writing of his book and “directed no donations”. Please read the families statement in this article.
Direct Quotes:
“I had a chance to speak with many members of the Prothero family and I have received some great feedback from members of the Prothero family who read the book,” Moore said. “I’ve always said, an endorsement from their family is the greatest endorsement I could ever receive. There are some members of the family who have not read the book and said they won’t read the book. I respect that.”
“There are actually signi cant amount of the proceeds going to a nonprofit called Dream Academy, which supports kids of those incarcerated. The other is an organization called City Year, which helps to support young people and teaches them about the importance of community service,” Moore said. “I’ve actually reached out to the family about that, and it was actually their choice that it goes to these organizations.”
The comments made about Freddie Gray in this article is misinformation.
Wes Moore appeared on "Salon Talks" to discuss "Five Days," which examines Freddie Gray & Baltimore through 8 POVs
The comments made about Freddie Gray in this article is misinformation. You can’t claim cops “killed Gray” while he was in custody. The trial did not prove that. I 100% agree something fishy happened in the back of that police van BUT the investigation was botched and rushed by the city due to outrage and violence from the community. Does anyone remember the race & gender of the 6 officers involved in the Freddie Gray incident?
It Appears Wes More cares more about criminals then law abiding citizens. Moore see’s everything through the lens of identity. This is a common theme and current issue with the Democratic Party; they care more about the color of your skin, what’s between your legs and how that makes you feel rather than people’s wallets and safety.
According to this interview Moore was on board with the defund/reallocation of police funds. This shows just how out of touch Wes Moore is with the community. Crime is through the roof in Baltimore City and people are dying in record amounts. Wes Moore also believes that a raciest system is responsible for African American’s dying from Covid and breast cancer….where does skin cancer play into that?
Direct Quotes:
It's been five years since Freddie Gray died as a result of injuries he received while in police custody. And like Floyd, Gray's death sparked a series of protests, looting and grassroots movements that garnered both national and international attention. The sum of these violent and nonviolent activities will forever be known as the Baltimore Uprising. The cops who killed Gray were charged, just like Floyd's killers; however, they all won or had their trials dismissed. They received back pay and are all currently employed by the Baltimore Police Department.
Since then, Baltimore has continued to have problems –– going viral for all of the wrong reasons including a record number of homicides, department-wide police corruption, five new police commissioners in under five years, the "Healthy Holly" children books scandal with former Mayor Catharine Pugh that netted her over a half million dollars but was followed by stint in federal prison – just to name a few, leaving many people asking, "What's up with Baltimore?"
I was actually talking with the folks from LBS, Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle. We were having a conversation where I was like, "I'm very much aligned with what you're saying." It was like, "I don't want to abolish the force, because I think there's a necessity for having it." But, do I think that we put far too much weight and far too much pressure, and we expand this definition of policing in a way that's incredibly dangerous to communities? Absolutely. Do I think this excessive militarization that we have for policing is useful, or helpful, or cost-effective? Absolutely not.
It's a system that allows Black Americans to die at twice the rate from COVID-19 as white Americans. It's a system that makes it 42% more likely for a Black woman to die of breast cancer than a white woman who also has breast cancer.
What an anti-racist is, it's both identifying these realities and then being willing to do something about it.
