11/15/24 - Round Mountain, TX - INSIDE WEST CAVE - Who knew we had something like this close to home? This morning, we did a guided hike at West Cave Outdoor Discovery Center with our friends Stan and Jan from Houston. While we learned a lot about the underlying geology of the area, which was fascinating, the clear highlight of the hike was entering West Cave and the adjacent grotto. Took a million pictures: it was very difficult to select just one for Pic of the Day. Chose this one behind a trickling water fall from a recent rain because in addition to the cave opening, it accentuates the bright green moss in the brilliant morning light. Gorgeous! If you find yourself in the Austin, TX area, you might want to schedule a quick day trip to this special place. You won’t regret it.
