A doctor’s word for you
As some of you might know, I’m a doctor. Today I got back after 30 hours long shift and I have a word for you in this corona-time. And the word is - STAY HOME.
For us. For your families. For all the elderly or sick or immunosuppressed.
We’re with our patients at all times, when they recover and sadly, more often with every day, when they die. And they die alone, because no family members are allowed to visit. We work overtime, we sleep only now and then at any flat surface we can find. We work in dangerous conditions because hospitals lack basic protective equipment. We don’t see our families and we won’t be able to for the upcoming weeks, or more likely, months. We do it to protect them, knowing we could bring a deadly disease to our homes.
Please, in those hard times be responsible. Stay home. Wash your hands. Avoid crowds. Don’t underestimate the threat.
We stay at work for you. Stay home for us.
And if you know a doctor or a nurse or a paramedic, try to do something nice for them. Even a few words of support mean the world for us now. If you can, donate money to your local hospital or a food bank. Look around you and check if your old neighbours don’t need help.
Be kind. Be responsible. Be HUMAN.
Stay safe. Stay home.
