The resort buildings at Shepard Farm Resort in Westerlo, New York, in the 1950s and 2016, before renovations began.
The Shepard Farm dates back to 1862 and became a summer resort in the 1920s. It consisted of nine buildings built on 190 acres and included amenities like indoor and outdoor pools, a movie theater, and a dance hall. It was known as the "dry" resort of the area and prohibited alcohol for a period of time. Like many resorts in New York, it peaked in the 1950s and closed in the 1980s, leaving its buildings boarded up and abandoned.
In 2017, after rotting away for 30 years, it was purchased by John Dolce and Steve Haaland. Since then, they have been renovating, bringing older buildings up to code and renting out spaces to smaller businesses. Today, one of the now-renovated resort buildings houses Sage Salon and a karate school. Another is a vintage furnishings store. A nearby field is now a solar farm. Located in Westerlo, New York.
