@Doublevision by THE BOX - Here's a CD that's been a long time coming! Even includes some previously-unreleased material!

Comprising all the studio recordings for Cabaret Voltaire's Doublevision label, including unreleased tracks and mixes. The Box existed from the end of 1981 to the beginning of 1985 and were formed by the 3 departing member of THIRST era CLOCK DVA. Initially on GO! DISCS for their first 4 releases before teaming up with Doublevision for an EP. a 12" & a live album. They were by far the fastest, tightest band to come out of Eighties Sheffield and were renown for their uncompromising, take no prisoners live performances.

New Order - Homage (1980)

The track from New Order's original post-Curtis September 1980 Western Works demos that never progressed any further.  For years a very low quality version was available through bootlegged audio cassettes.  I had one myself on a little cassette since the early eighties with a lot of other tracks of varying quality and distinction.

THIS is the high quality version that turned up a few years ago and was released into the wild by The Analog Loyalist.  The full story of the tape-reel it was taken from, and why nowhere on it's label does it mention these precious tracks, is here.  Well worth a glance by anyone who considers themselves fond of New Order.

Can anyone help me find the exact location of Western Works?

I work for the University of Sheffield, who own the building that was built on the site of Cabaret Voltaire's studio.

I'd really like to locate the rooms that correspond to its past location. I'm not sure why - curiosity mainly. The prospect of doing something in that space.

It shouldn't be hard to do, but I'd like to be as exact as possible. So: if you've been there before, and are willing to try to go there again, would you get in touch? It shouldn't take long to do, and I'd buy you a coffee.
