"Looking for A Certain Ratio..."
Spotted in Dublin this week.
On this day in 1979. My first gig in London.

Have a smashing weekend.
I just shared a new blog & podcast episode. I went back to my teenage diaries to talk about the recording of "Thirst", the second album by ClockDVA.

Look, it's my first (and almost certainly last) magazine front cover, and it only took 45 years to get.
Of course I'm going to have it framed.
Thank you Push and Electronic Sound.
Cabaret Voltaire live in Brussels last Friday night.
Really enjoyed the Cabs in Brussels. Everything - the set, the production, the sound, the confidence coming from the stage - felt like a big leap forward from Manchester last year.
Very much looking forward to Dublin in October. Do try and see them if you can before the show comes to the end of the road in Sheffield.
Also got to meet Wolfgang from Kraftwerk after the show.
Released today.
I'm very happy to see 'Thirst' by ClockDVA back out in the world.
Congratulations to Daniel Dylan Wray on the publication of his book on Sheffield music from 1960 to 2020.
I'm delighted to have made a small contribution to the story and happier still to receive a glowing endorsement for my blog https://www.mylifeinthemoshofghosts.com/
Delighted to get my hands on one of these pump clips for the recent run of "Nag Nag Nag" porter ale from Bradfield Brewery. Thank you to Sheffield pal Brent Sharp who brought it over to Ireland this week.
12.05.1979.
Arsenal beat Man Utd. 3-2 in the "Five-minute final" at Wembley. Further north, I joined ClockDVA.
8th May 1980.
A trip down the time tunnel with Super Furry Animals in Dublin last night.
In between robbing chemists & throwing police dogs, Clock DVA were one of Sheffield's best bands in the post punk era.
I really like it when the postie delivers something that you had completely forgotten that you had ordered.
It's like a little Christmas.
Spotted on a recent trip to Sheffield.
The old shop front for Revolution Records, high up on the now mostly derelict Castle Market Arcade walkway.
Pictured outside the shop in its punk-rock heyday are Paul Weller of The Jam, shop owner Pete Martin and young fan Michael Denton. (Photo posted by George Mar on It's All About Sheffield.)
26th April 1980.
DVA recorded 'White Souls In Black Suits' in a Sheffield 'Little Mesters' garret, just off West Street near the Limit Club.
I'm very happy that 'White Souls' is back out in the world again. This new re-release by Mute Records is the closest that the listener will ever get to being in the room on that day in Spring 1980.
