Flag of a westernized Inca Empire (Tahuantinsuyo)
from /r/vexillology Top comment: If anyone's feeling confused, the rainbow does not represent the LGBT+ community. The same symbols carry very different meanings throughout history (think of the swastika for example). The rainbow shown in this flag is the symbol that represented (and still does) the people of Cusco, founders of the Tahuantinsuyo (Inca) Empire. And when I say "Westernized" it is because the natives of South America, in general, didn't really have the culture of representing a state power with an official state flag. I've been writing an alternative history for the past months explaining an universe in which the natives held out against Europeans and, just like Japan, for example, westernized their political organisation and culture by the late 19th century.
