I was just on a walk with a friend today, realizing how much has changed for both of us over the past few years. And then I looked back at 2021 on its own, and realized… SO MUCH HAS CHANGED in just the last 12 months!! I started the year still living in the Tinyhaven, driving the 18-yr old 4Runner and enjoying spins in the 30-yr old Miata. Before I knew it, I’d sold the 4Runner, given the Miata back to its original owner, moved out of the Tinyhaven (+ cried many tears), and somehow fit my whole life into Rex the RV 🚐! Once the adventure of finding a new/safe spot to park each night wore off, and several things broke down in succession, I made the call to look for a warmer and more consistent space for Nooks and I to live over the winter. ❄️ Thanks to some amazing friends, we moved into a basement apartment (@annie_c_davis @jahnd) for a month, then into an Airbnb (@ericweike). To say it was busy and not-so-much-fun to move as much as we have, is an understatement. 😮💨 However, during these last two months, I began calmly browsing houses around SLC. I knew I wasn’t necessarily in a rush, I didn’t need to force anything, the housing market is crazy in Utah right now anyway… but I also had a hunch that I’d find a good spot for Nooks and myself before the new year. 🤷♀️ I let go of my preconceived ideas of how it might happen, and told my impatient side to quiet down… and let things unfold! Before I knew it, we’d found a gorgeous home with a creek in the backyard, only about a mile and a half from where I lived in the Tinyhome. We were able to close pretty quickly and got the keys last week! 🔑 It’s perfect for Nooks and me, and we’re slowly settling in. It’s insane to *actually* be a homeowner now 😳🤩. But I’m loving how each step this year naturally led to the next. And the skills I learned from living full time in the RV are directly translating to stationary homeownership.
