I think I’m so fucking funny. Why did I spend so much fucking time on this, Jesus Christ. I’m hilarious.
Okay, I know there was an actual Common Law episode to indulge our fake relationship fantasies for Wesvis, but I want more than what we got.
I want them to have to go full-blown undercover for more than just a little while. I want them to need to be seen by other people regularly and make those people believe they’re in a relationship with each other. This should entail trips to the grocery store, trips to the laundromat maybe, walks around the neighborhood, socializing with the neighbors. This could happen at a house the department is using as a cover, this could be an apartment or hotel room, this could be a literal resort. I don’t care.
But, please, please, please tell me that there’s a fic that really goes in-depth with the Wesvis fake relationship trope and all of its goodness, and that it ends with them actually in a relationship?
Please.
If there isn’t one, CAN THERE BE?? Please tell me there is one already, and failing that, please tell me that one is being written or in the planning process.
I NEED THIS, I AM BEGGING EVERYONE. EVERYONE!!
also, Wes and Travis are totally like, lets not tell anyone at work, that might make it awkward. so they don’t, but everyone knows by the end of the week because they are terrible at hiding it. Travis takes absolutely every opportunity to grope Wes no matter how inappropriate and Wes acts like a love sick puppy!
They keep their illusion that no one knows for an impressive two weeks, until the captain comes up to them, publicly congratulates them, and then tells them, in no uncertain terms that if Wes becomes another of Travis’s problematic ex’s he’ll demote their arses back to traffic cops.
okay, so like, Wes and Travis absolutely end up dating eventually!
But I am so torn as to how I want that to happen, because there are so many beautiful possibilities!
I mean, you’ve got the fic favourite, emotional scene followed by night of passion.
And like, can you imagine, these two yelling at each other, because all their emotional scenes start with fights. And they’re really going at it, getting in each others faces, shouting, and, maybe Wes shoves Travis just a little, and Travis shoves back a little harder, and so on so forth, until Travis shoves Wes against a wall and kisses him.
Or maybe, they’re fighting, maybe Wes nearly got himself killed, and Travis is pissed, and in the midst of one of the worst arguments they’ve had since the whole, therapy thing started, Wes yells why are you doing this?! at Travis and Travis yells back because I’m in love with you! *cue making out*
Except of course they never actually get their “night of passion” because after about ten minuets Wes ruins it by being Wes.
Wait, wait Travis, does this mean we’re dating now? Wes. No, no I’m serious. Do we have to talk about this NOW? Travis I will not be another one of your one night stands! Wes can we talk about this when I don’t have my hands on your- hey, HEY. There, now you don’t have your hands on me, lets talk about this!
OR you’ve got the whole slow burn thing (which is probably more what would’ve happened in canon) with one, (or if you want to make it even funnier both) of them slowly figuring out they have feelings for the other and working it our with Dr.Ryan. So, like, maybe one time, Dr Ryan shows up, and Travis is waiting for her, and he’s like 40mins early so she knows this is serious. So she takes him in, and Travis is all embarrassed and sheepish and Dr Ryan finally manages to get him to stutter out see uh, the thing is, uh *clears throat* I think I have feelings for Wes. And Dr Ryan’s, like well he is your partner, its natural for you to have feelings about him. No no, I, I think I have feelings for him.
And so they then proceed to “work through” this with privet sessions, because Wes comes to group so.
Bonus points if at some point during this Wes also comes to her and tells her the same thing so then she ends working with both of them separately and of course she can’t tell them this because doctor patient confidentiality so she’s just subtly trying to convince them to just fucking talk to each other already. And eventually she manages it, and they both find each other like I’ve got something to tell you. and then they do that, you first, no no, you first thing. And they’re both tripping over themselves and dying of embarrassment but eventually one of them (Wes?) manages to get it out and the other one just starts fucking laughing cue Wes storming off and Travis running after him like wait wait, no wes!
And of course when they do finally get their shit together the first people they tell are the group, because we wouldn’t be here without you guys so and Dr Ryans being all supportive like thank you, boys, I’m glad you felt you could share this with us. meanwhile half of the group starts swearing and irately handing cash over to other members of the group and this is how it comes out that there’s been a betting pool about how long it’d take Wes and Travis to get it on since like, week two.
Wes and Travis react to this by sharing an exasperated/ concerned gaze were we really THAT obvious? no. no. no theres no way. these guys are just fucking psychic! yeah, yeah definetly!

Wes felt like there was something off when he sat at his desk. He didn't know what it was, but he was sure Travis had something to do with it. But what the hell was it? He scanned over his desk. Everything was there. Everything in its place. Nothing. Still there was a nagging discomfort he couldn't shake. For a moment the blonde decided to ignore it and opened his laptop. Was it him or was there a breeze? There had never been a breeze there...right? Finally he couldn't take it anymore. With a disgruntled mumble Wes gathered and packed his things. He'd get more done at the hotel than in the precinct at this rate. As the detective huffed out of the building Travis snuck from around the corner with a grin. Randy owed him ten bucks on their wager. The bet? See if Wes would notice the two inch shift of his entire desk.
