So Snyder posted some storyboards for how the human motherbox was found.

Apparently it was found by Nazis during World War 2. The scene begins with Cyborg showing the others a hologram where he inserts himself in human form where he literally walks through the events of them finding the motherbox. It later seems to end with Cyborg looking at his destroyed body in Silas' lab.
