we got married was a show chaeyeon wasn’t too excited about. she and her members have managed to go by in their careers without big scandals and it seemed like whoever went on the show ended up in a big scandal that blew up. being paired with hyuksoo sunbae... well that was another issue. she didn’t care that he had a son and that he was divorced, chaeyeon was just worried on how the public would view this.
of course this was completely fictional, fictional as a drama but the public took everything too seriously. she only had a nineteen year age gap between daeul and a seven year difference with hyuksoo. she could already hear the negative comments, saying how uncomfortable it made the viewers or even how she was ‘promoting teenage pregnancies’ by being paired with someone with a child.
she smiled, keeping those thoughts away as she sat in front of the camera man, getting ready to film her interview section after her meeting with her partner for the show.
Q: “how do you feel being paired with someone seven years your senior?”
“it was a surprise,” she chuckled, smiling. “i didn’t expect it to be hyuksoo sunbae either but i also... like older men so it’s cool that the pd listened to my one request on the type of husband i wanted to be paired with.”
Q: “how about being the first person to be on we got married to also get a child?”
“it was actually nice having daeul there for our first meeting!” she smiled brightly. “daeul is a frequent ace visitor and he’s actually walked in on a lot of karma’s practices so i think... he made us less awkward around each other.”
Q: “did you tell your parents yet?”
“when the news about ace doing this special season of we got married... my oppa called me just to tell me not to go on,” she grinned, remembering her brother taking this show too seriously. “my mom called me when the rumour of me being on this show was going around if i had any idea who my partner was.” her mother was a fan of hyuksoo’s dramas, always saying it was a shame how he got involved with a ‘rotten woman’. “i haven’t told her who i’m partnered with yet so... surprise mom! my mom’s a fan of hyuksoo sunbae so... i think she’s going to be watching the show for him more than me.”
Q: “do you think you guys will ever drop the honorifics?”
“hyuksoo sunbae and i have a professional relationship in ace. because we’re in different areas of entertainment w never got a chance to be closer than that?” she wondered if she was doing a good job at explaining at all. “we have a pretty big age gap so... maybe by the end of this you’ll see us not being so formal? i have no promises, i feel like i would get chills down my spine if i ever called him without sunbae at the end.”
