I just need to take a second to say a big congratulations to @taylorswift. She’s the most accomplished, well rounded, strong and independent woman. Topping charts, breaking records and glass ceilings. She is empowerment.

I’ll admit, 12 years ago when I was still in high school, I was not a fan. I was critical about live performances, I didn’t know what genre she was a part of, but I still caught myself bopping to her on the radio. Fast forward to RED, and things started to flip and then once 1989 dropped I went full blown swiftie.

I’ve watched someone whom I now absolutely idolize go through a publicized emotional rollercoaster and I stood behind my keyboard defending her to the death, which I still do to this day at 29 years old.

Taylor is an inspiration. Sometimes I look at all she is accomplished and think to myself “Why didn’t I keep singing? Why didn’t I drop everything and chase this dream?” And quite honestly I still have the conversation with myself from time to time. I’m a full grown adult, riding the struggle bus, working my 9-5 in the financial industry because I mean, someone has to...right? But I always run back to draw inspiration from Taylor. Whether it be singing in the shower, painting, or standing up for my rights. I always run back to her.

Every fan wants to be her BFF, and every fan wants to meet her, hug her, etc. I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting her but, I also don’t know if I would want to meet her in a “meet and greet” setting. I’ve always had this day dream where I would get the chance to sit down with her, have some coffee or a cocktail, play with the cats, and just chat. She’s the type of person I mesh well with, she’s the type of person that I build friendships with, the same type of person I’ve built all my close friendships with during my adult life. If I ever got the chance to befriend such a person, I would be the luckiest guy around.

So here’s to you, Taylor. You’re a badass, boss lady. You’re someone who has seen me through teenage years into what will soon be my 30’s. I’ve grown with your music and have always resonated with it because we are so close in age that it has always just made sense. Here’s to your accomplishments, and the road ahead.
