WIP Wednesday Sentences

Niko paused, making a curious sound, and Yoshi plucked at the sloppy bow he’d tied in front of himself. He didn’t explain, only untied the obi, nudged Niko to turn, slipping behind him, and tied it properly. ‟Huh.” Niko smoothed his hands over the flat band it made at his waist as Yoshi moved back around him. Yoshi shook his head, amused, and led Niko back along into the house proper, glad of the warmth of his own heavy kimono - the bathhouse was steamy warm, but the winter chill had seeped into the rest of the house. It radiated through his tabi from the wood of the engawa; the tatami inside offered little more insulation, but it still helped. The house was quiet, save for Niko’s steps shadowing his own - a small disturbance that settled comfortably into the rhythm of the otherwise deserted house; a ripple that only added dimension. Yoshi let himself appreciate it as he usually appreciated the quiet of his home. Yoshi’s father had kept several full time servants, but while Yoshi could have followed that example, as a young man yet unmarried and without family, only his devotion to what he had always felt was his calling, it had felt overly indulgent
