I look at those videos of dogs using buttons to communicate and I am amazed at their intelligence and ability to use language when given the chance.
And then I think of how shitty it must be to have the capacity to want complex things, to have someone you love in control of those things, and be mostly unable to communicate it to them because they don't understand your doggy language.
I feel so guilty for my (family) dog. I feel like buying those buttons but I don't even know if I'd be able to train him or afford them.
Sometimes he looks at me and barks and I feel an overwhelming pit of "I know you're trying to tell me something, and I don't know what".
Or the opposite "I know this is sad and confusing and but I need you to know mom's coming back soon".
