Wise beyond age

My 14-year-old Reese was in the car with me coming home from football practice. He asked what I was going to do with the rest of my day. I replied I’d be in the studio painting. He said isn’t that just so much fun? I said yes, it can be, but right now I’m stressing over getting everything done, and yet I realize it is my mindset that is creating the stress—no one else—and that I need to stop putting this pressure on myself but I can’t snap out of it. He said, Mom, you just need to paint what is in your mind. That is what is important. Sometimes people paint a big blue blob on the canvas and call it done. And that is okay. You just need to paint what is inside of you. That is all that matters. #paintphilosphy #wisewords

Day 2  First 100 Days in New Studio

Listened to the Savvy Painter podcast featuring John Brosio. Noted the quote that stood out for me "...getting that disparity to operate in unison."

Along this vein, I did notice that I was closing in on the minutiae of this last work, potentially offsetting the balance, so I've put it aside and am now starting another. No need to over-articulate.

After I've established some distance, I'll approach it again with more objectivity.
