“Fell Into Hold Of Boat,” Daily British Whig (Kingston, Ontario). October 21, 1911. Page 8. ----- Wheelman of Steamer Prince Rupert Breaks His Arm --- Albert Porila, of St. Paul, who is wheelsman on the steamer Prince Rupert, had a miraculous escape from death by falling into the hold of the boat, a distance of twenty-three feet, and breaking his right arm, on Saturday morning.
The boat just finished unloading wheat at Richardson’s elevator, and had started to load some oats. Porila was in the act of lifting the hatch and missed his hold and fell in.
Dr. W. G. Anglin was called and set the arm. It is very fortunate that the wheelsman did not receive worse injuries tha n he did by falling that distance.
