WHEN LIONS ROAR 2013 - BLOODSTAINED DREAMS
'When Lions Roar' is an incredible initiative organised by the Sikh Activist Network that has grown over the years into a full festival. This hard-hitting poem by R Kaur is an example of the talent that is celebrated at the festival in Canada, including music, song, dance, painting and spoken word poetry.
It's so inspirational seeing the young Sikh community come together like this. Hopefully the initiative will grow more to become international and branch out to the UK!

Music Festival Season is in Full Force n' Effect.....
and man it has me wishing I was in Canada. Our neighbors seem to have got the music festival scene on steroids and I so wish I was there.
The season started last week with the beginning of Desi Fest...a weeklong festival with music and film. The linked video is from Zoo Babies--one of the bands headlining at the Desi Fest.
Last weekend was also the Banff Jazz festival with Jazz Director-- the jazz great--Vijay Iyer (Vijay is also a confirmed Beats for Bangladesh Artist)
The madness gets even better this weekend with the start of WHEN LIONS ROAR. This Sikh Activist Network festival looks SO awesome! The festival runs through June 8. I'll be posting more about it in an upcoming post.
and if that wasn't enough----the festival madness moves to the Canadian west coast for VIBC.
Wow. Hats off Canada. You Rock!

Calling all Sikhs!
If any of you live in the GTA or around the area I highly recommend signing up to volunteer for the When Lions Roar festival. It's amazing opportunity to become in tune with Sikh culture and history (such as 1984) as well you get volunteer hours and meet cool new people (including me :) !). The meeting is May 10, this Friday, at 6pm-8pm Chinguacousy Park, Brampton! Its a great start in being an activist and becoming a global citizen! Hope to see some of you there!
