General Opinion: REMOVE | Dislike | Eh | Okay | Like | Love | WOULD FOLLOW INTO HELL | Wonderful granddaughter whose existence I cherish every day of my life
Best Trait: talented and prideful/chuuni, but also surprisingly girly
Worst Trait: arrogance/know-it-all attitude (but when she gets shown up, she learns from it, which is a good trait!)
OTPs:
OT3s/OTNs:
BroTPs: mokou, rinnosuke, kasen
Characters I wish they’d interact with more: in the human village, i want to see how keine, akyuu, and kosuzu treat her
as a teenager,
as an outside world human, and
as a human with knowledge from the outside world.
yukari probably has some interesting thoughts about her, so thats another one.
a yuri-enthused shoujo-ai-loving sumireko who tries to play matchmaker with her many friend-acquaintances would be hilarious.
General Opinion: REMOVE | Dislike | Eh | Okay | Like | Love | WOULD FOLLOW INTO HELL
Best Trait: very concerned about everyone: her students, her immortals friends, her village
Worst Trait: will take on more than she can handle, constantly stressed. bad at expressing herself. doesnt know how to make history class fun
OTPs: in this house we ship mokokene
OT3s/OTNs: i have not seen enough of it to make a firm opinion but i see the eirin/keine and i am not ruling it out
BroTPs: akyuu
Characters I wish they’d interact with more: akyuu again. they’re both characters with village influence, and they collaborate on the gensokyo chronicle to some extent so its a wonder we dont see them talking more
mystia, yuuka, similar youkai mingling with the village: keine is a (half-)youkai who has earned a lot of respect from the humans in the village, and she probably has a pro-humanity stance, like Akyuu, since she is still part human and her position and work with Akyuu demands it anyways, but i feel like she could be pretty sympathetic towards those youkai as well. definitely one of the human village’s go-to representatives for liaison with individual youkai (moves by larger groups such as the kappa, tengu, probably warrant reimu’s intervention)
kosuzu probably graduated from her elementary school a while ago, but keine still remembers her and is also concerned about her... just like the rest of us
General Opinion: REMOVE | Dislike | Eh | Okay | Like | Love | WOULD FOLLOW INTO HELL | Yes she is also my wonderful granddaughter thank you for asking
Best Trait: probably the character who has the most interesting openminded opinions about youkai with respect to humans. yeah fuck you byakuren whats it like getting beaten the FUCK out by a human teenage girl
ok that was uncalled for. byakuren is cool. sorry ma’am. ur cool
(but still)
DID YOU SEE THAT CHARACTER GROWTH IN FS 49? SHE MADE HER OWN DECISION FOR ONCE THATS MY GIRL!!!
Worst Trait: she’s very trusting and a bit naive which is why everyone is worried for her at this very moment
OTPs: akyuusuzu is very, very good
OT3s/OTNs:
BroTPs: reimu, marisa
Characters I wish they’d interact with more: as mentioned, sumireko. maybe alice, because of [FS spoilers]. loads of youkai and humans are good characters for her to meet
Characters they should stay away from: [FS spoilers]
at this rate, reimu
im not gonna say yukari because no one should trust yukari, that’s yukari 101
Aya, Mystia and Yuuka for the character. You asked for meme material, here is your triple ration.
aya
General Opinion: REMOVE | Dislike | Eh | Okay | Like | Love | WOULD FOLLOW INTO HELL
Best Trait: some obligations to tengu society, but very much can’t be stopped from doing and saying whatever she wants to do. an unflappable reporter
(most of what she wants to say and do, especially in FS, relates to tengu interests anyways, though)
Worst Trait: nosy. meddlesome. not very good at taking ‘no’ for an answer
OTPs:
OT3s/OTNs: i dont really know the aya ships too well but i don’t particularly dislike any of them
BroTPs: i dont dislike ayamomi but i also think their work relationship is undervalued
Characters I wish they’d interact with more: moriya shrine? aya has this sort of good position where she does represent the tengu but she still has enough distance to have a sense of agency, so i think this would be great
Characters they should stay away from:
mystia
General Opinion: REMOVE | Dislike | Eh | Okay | Like | Love | WOULD FOLLOW INTO HELL
Best Trait: a good friend. cheerful
Worst Trait: she is simple-minded, but simple-minded people have their own charm, too
OTPs:
OT3s/OTNs:
BroTPs: choujuu gigaku was the highlight of sopm
Characters I wish they’d interact with more: mystia has a sort of cool position in touhou where she still attacks humans like other youkai but she also kind of has to be on good terms with them since they are (presumably?) part of her food stand’s clientele, so maybe akyuu or kosuzu (THEY’RE GOOD CHARACTERS) or keine
Characters they should stay away from: this section is not very useful for me because i always want to see interactions
General Opinion: REMOVE | Dislike | Eh | Okay | Like | Love | WOULD FOLLOW INTO HELL
Best Trait: very elegant person. makes plaid look very good. loves all flowers very much
Worst Trait: struggles to care about anything that isn’t flowers
OTPs: reimu/yuuka has grown on me a lot. the scariest youkai and a human who doesnt care at all: a good ship?
OT3s/OTNs: @grimoireofalice mentioned yukari/yuuka/reimu at some point in time and i kind of like it! i will provide no further details
yuukaten and yuurigu are usually just bad/meme characterizations so i’m wary of them. i also feel like the reasoning behind them is pretty weak
BroTPs: gardener meiling is a good headcanon. meiling, yuuka as senior gardener friends and youmu as a junior gardener is further good
Characters I wish they’d interact with more: i kind of want to know how much of akyuu’s pmiss article is exaggerated/truth so i think another yuuka and akyuu meeting would be
General Opinion: REMOVE | Dislike | Eh | Okay | Like | Love | WOULD FOLLOW INTO HELL
Best Trait: self-confidence, self-belief
also- she has red hair. there are no bad redheads in touhou. Science has proven this
i will count koakuma as a character when she gets some form of canon acknowledgement
Worst Trait: haven’t thought about this enough
OTPs:
OT3s/OTNs: raiben is aight
BroTPs: raiko is a great mentor figure for all the tsukumogami, especially kogasa, but not medicine, who is too preoccupied with revenge to admire this extremely cool woman
Characters I wish they’d interact with more: shinmyoumaru post ddc. tsukumogami are an interesting type of youkai since they dont really seem to be the human-eating type as much as most others, so i think she would be a good youkai for kosuzu to meet, especially since kosuzu has already had some involvement with tsukumogami in the past
Characters they should stay away from:
iku
General Opinion: REMOVE | Dislike | Eh | Okay | Like | Love | WOULD FOLLOW INTO HELL
Best Trait: great listener. always gives thoughtful advice
Worst Trait: very distant person, keeps her feelings to herself a lot
OTPs:
OT3s/OTNs: ikuten is nice. ill crackship yuugi/iku too
BroTPs: she is a lonely person
Characters I wish they’d interact with more: fuck dude i will take any iku+1 interactions at this point
So we can ask you anything, huh. Then I will ask you the most important topic in touhou, hats. Which ones do you particulary like?
Excerpted from Top 5 Greatest Touhou Project Hats of ALL TIME (MUST WATCH), a Heian-era classic often credited to the travelling entertainer-poet Junya Ota (864 - ). Date of publication, c. 904.
5. Keine Kamishirasawa.“For such was the unwieldiness of her hat, that it became a symbol of stability, with its austere corners and firm edges restoring order to the terakoya. She had also found the space to crown her headpiece with a massive, spreadeagled ribbon, reaching to the extent where it seemed that not one blade of grass would go unsheltered beneath its ten-thousand yojana span. Though I at first perceived it as weird, the design came to grow upon me until I was endeared to it. A charming hat.” (pg 1-2)
4. Iku Nagae.“Such was the mundanity of the article that I could boast it upon my scalp, and still pass unnoticed among the normies. And still the ribbon provided the eminence and wazang necessary to create a vision of style. A hat to shine during everyday life.” (pg 3-4)
3. Seiga Kaku.“For though Kaku walked the world without hat or headgear, her hairpin bestowed upon her a regal air and hair volume (O, loops the size and beauty of which neither China nor Japan had ever seen before!) that few other accessories could have matched. It also doubled as an escape tool. A fearsome, yet beautiful accessory.” (pg 5-6)
2. Marisa Kirisame.“Where Kamishirasawa had chosen to ornament herself with a far-reaching ribbon, as to claim all in its shade her charges and dominion, Kirisame had eschewed the indirect approach entirely and pulled the span of the heavens over herself. For if danmaku were all of firepower, as was the way she conducted herself and her duels, then a hat should strive to attain the greatest radius possible, as if to outstretch Buddha’s palm. And so, Kirisame produced a hat of magnitude that shamed all others. For so runs the aphorism, ‘A witch of no hat is of no import.’ A hat of pride and power.” (pg 7-8)
1. Eiki Shiki, Yamaxanadu.“It could be said that her hat was merely the badge of her office. Yet, so awe-inspiring was that office that her hat invoked that self-same fear and paralyzing respect upon all who laid eyes upon it. But by no means should the reader dismiss the design of the headpiece itself, for the dress of the Yama called for an article of power and command, and it had risen to the occasion magnificently. Lined with gold, yet not pridefully so in such an overwhelming, self-absorbed way; her crown wore blue, red, and white also, and kept all in moderation. Its ribbons were possessed of a sense of grandeur, as parts of an all-encompassing whole, sweeping past her shoulders if she should turn to inspect those before her, and lo! For such was the stature and brilliance that all who were within her shadow should tremble not of cold but of the realization of the smallness of their entire being and accomplishments… 10/10. Very good hat.” (pg 9-105)
Some of the passages have been cut out for the sake of brevity. I am not confident in the accuracy of my translation, so please weigh the judgements of Mr. Ota accordingly.
