recent interaction I had: friends were talking about LOTR and a male friend mentioned that there's a lot of Sam/Frodo fanfic out there and I replied by saying that of course there is, but I think the real contenders for canon status are Legolas/Gimli and then everyone responded by reminding me that men are allowed to just be friends you know and why do I have to spoil pure and noble things by making them about sex?
