Good Morning!☀️
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matt. 6:6
In today's verse notice that Jesus said "When you pray". This phrase is used more than once. It is not a matter of IF you pray but WHEN you pray. Since we are to pray, Jesus taught the people the proper mindset and approach to prayer.
Jesus set the example when it comes to spending time with God. He frequently left the crowds and the disciples to go up into the mountains to pray. We too have to make spending time with God a priority in our lives. It is to be the foundation and springboard of our lives. Jesus said that when we pray in secret we would be rewarded openly. Open victories in our lives have been wrought by private praying, whether ourselves or the prayers of others!
One of the verses from the song "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" states:
"Oh, what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer"
These words are still an accurate description of the cost of not making prayer a priority in our lives!
