WCTD: Fun Fact Friday #6 (the very late edition)
Heeeyyyyyy
Guess who forgot to post stuff for Fun Fact Friday not once, but twice??? ME
Sorry guys for the lack of original content. School has basically taken over my life, but it should hopefully get better soon
I haven’t done much for WCTD in the past couple of weeks, so here’s a hodgepodge of mythology-centric stuff
Other than The Trinity, one of the most widely worshipped Raian deity is Areia, the goddess of beauty, love, and war
You know the phrase “all is fair in love and war?” Yeah. That’s her
She’s That Bitch TM who can pull off soft pastel and still be able to thrash anyone in a fistfight. Or a sword fight. Or a...well, you get it
I probably stated this before, but humans are the only species that actually need cantas (runes & seals) to use magic. No one knows why, but Raian mythos does provide multiple different answers
One myth said that humans did have the ability to harness raw magic, but their hubris caused the gods to take away mankind’s knowledge of magic and their natural ability to harness it, so they had to start again from scratch.
Another had the gods fearing the ingenuity of mankind and sought to prevent their uprising by tricking people into giving up their knowledge of magic
And the wildest one so far features an oft-forgotten god (historians have never been able to discover his name so he’s often called The Fallen One or The Nameless One) that cursed the humans for siding with the wrong gods
Aphel, the god of death and rebirth, has an ever-faithful companion trotting at his heels. This is his loyal hound Reiophylla (alt. Reio-philla, Rheophil), who helps protect and shepherd the souls into the afterlife.
Reiophylla’s name loosely translates to Spirit Guardian or guardian of gods
He is a very good boy
