When I Grow Old
Years from now, surely, I’ll be old and wrinkly. I’ll have my white hair, my bones will turn weak and all signs of aging. When that time comes, I might be toothless, but I want to still be smiling. I want to look back and not regret the memories of my younger years. I will not be asking myself “what if’s” and “what could have been” because I already have done my best. I will not wish to turn back the time because I already have done great. When I am old, I’ll be seeing my parents happy and proud to see how their dreams for me turned into reality. When I’m old, I’ll be happy living in my dream house together with my other half and our children. I will not be scared of looking old because I have my husband who will make me feel that I am still confidently beautiful with a heart. We will spend the rest of our lives, looking on each other’s eyes, smiling, feeling how we love each other every day of our lives. When I am old, I will remember that I raised my children very well and they are successful in their lives. I became their role model and at the same time their best friend. While sitting on my rocking chair, I will be surrounded by my beautiful and handsome grandchildren. They will learn a lot of things from me. They will know stories like how I conquered my fears ,fought monsters, how I chased my dream , how I reached my goals and how I became who I am. And with that I’ll be able to inspire them and so, to other people. I’ll never worry if I’ll get senile because I know my family will always be there for me. When I am old, I’ll be happy that my dreams didn’t just turn to dust. I have passion in my profession and I had helped a lot of people in need. I am enjoying the fruits of my hard work. I had spent time with my family. I already had explored and discovered a lot of things in the world and experienced good times and bad times. I’ll be watching pictures of my younger years. I will smile of the memories of my friends and family. I’ll smile knowing how blessed I am that they became a part of my life. And we have this amazing moment in our life that is really irreplaceable and one that I’ll always cherish. When I am old, I’ll have a room full of travel souvenirs because I already had roamed around the world. I ate all foods. I meet a lot of people. I read a lot of books. When I am old, I’ll laugh hard ‘til my belly aches of the idea that my life wasn’t always serious. I break rules. Sometimes, I do a little crime for fun. Go crazy with my friends and all of the silliness. When I am old, I will laugh in all of my imperfections. I had flaws. I made mistakes. I failed. Those will turn to be memories of a lesson-learned. I’m sometimes awkward. I lacked sense of humor that’s why when I joke I’m always the one who laughs the most. I’ll smile when I look back and remember those days when I prayed to God all the things I have now. And I can’t stop smiling because there’s nothing in this world I could wish for .When I am old, I am sure to myself that I have achieved my greatest self and lived out my purpose in life. I may be place at one side when the young will take pictures, but I will still be smiling because I already have done that before and that stage belongs to the younger generation. Above all, the best thing I did was that I served God all my life by sharing the Gospel and being his steward. When I’m old, I’ll still be happy even if I can’t do the same things the same way because I am already satisfied and contented. When I am old I will feel that I have lived my life the most out of it. And that my existence will not be wasted because I had a wonderful journey. And at the time all I’ll be doing is to count the hours left to see God.
