I swear you would get along super with my previous evolutionary biol prof (Dr. Bulte) from Canada (CU). He loves turtles and I remember him as a kind, humble dude who resembled a french lumberjack of sorts. Does that sound Canadian enough?
Keep up the great blog! 🐸
I am sure we would get on swimmingly! Who doesn't love a good turtle—or a french lumberjack, for that matter‽ I spent some of my afternoon today reorganising a bit in our turtle shell collection at the museum, after returning a specimen that was recently used for a talk. Such fascinating and beautiful animals.
I also worked and studied in tech previously (engineering)! And can relate to the fluency in disorganization and self defeating behaviors 🤔. Also mother of cats. Happy to find your blog just now! hope you are well and continue to strive for health and growth. Sending kind thoughts as one stranger to another :)
That's so cool! I'm happy to have found your blog as well. The cats and I hope you have a great weekend 💛
Kitty, sorry its so tough for you right now. If it helps to hear I left my 1st degree (engineering) in my final term. I tried to hang on and get those last credits & capstone project done but I was done. I wasn't even me so nobody knew me. I ended up taking 3-4 years off and am now back in uni doing Neuroscience as well :). Not everyone needs a super long break but time away (any amt. time) from major stressors & triggers is so worth it. I hope whatever you decide brings you closer to wellness ♡
Oh love, you don’t know how much your message has offered to me this evening. The idea of leaving university again honestly fills me with dread/fear/worry but I know you are right and that health and wellbeing has to come first. Always. I had a really supportive session this afternoon with a support adviser in my accommodation and although it was utterly exhausting/draining it has helped me to see that I DO have options. It is not a black and white situation like my head tries to make it. I am sending love your way and pleased to hear that you are taking some steps forwards and fighting for the future that you want to live. Take care xxx
You're so talented!! 💙
Thank you very much!

Try talking to her :). Good luck with the bugs. Sounds horrible!
Thanks :). Bugs are horrible. If I had a button that could kill all bugs, I would press it--ecosystem be damned.
As for talking to her... I would love to. My confidence in my ability to do it, though, is pathetically low, and my confidence that it would go well even lower. I don’t know why I torture myself like this...
Incredible post on self-care and mental health. So important- I hope everyone sees it :) Take care
Take care also, I'm glad you found it important.
