A very VERY late continuation of my original DCA series. Remember fella's, nothing is discontinued... Just very very late.
Previous Part
Master Post for the series
Aaaaand here we go~
~~
It was midnight and you were officially locked into the pizza plex. The announcement rang over the sound system, somehow able to be heard over the daycare theme that had been echoing around you for hours now.
Your friends had most likely gone home for the evening and while you didn't want to think they abandoned you of their own volition. You were indeed feeling abandoned.
A security officer of some sort had come down and knocked on the door a couple times attempting to reason with your animatronic host but he was having none of it.
The last time had ended with him screeching something about "Rulebreakers" before slamming the door with finality.
After that last time no one had returned for you, leaving you to the whims of the Sun.
Speaking of…
"Today has been so fun New Friend! My friends don't usually stay so late to play, but now we must get ready for bed." The machine twittered at you before drooping. You grimaced at the thought, feeling like a child. Sun apparently misinterpreted this and began chatting again. "Now don't get sad New Friend we'll be able to play tomorrow and the day after that, and the day after that!"
Dread poured in your gut. You had honestly been hoping that the situation would resolve itself in the morning. The thought of being trapped in here…
Your heart began stuttering as panic threatened to overwhelm you again.
Despite the play area being spacious it was beginning to feel like a suffocating cage. A bright garish cage made to trap you and bring you to madness.
"New Friend?" Sun asked, putting a large hand on your shoulder which made you flinch violently.
The jerk caused your injured leg to slip off the little plastic chair it had been seated on and bounce harshly on the floor. You let out a yelp which had the daycare attendant moving in a flurry.
"Oh no, oh no! Mustn't move so much." It rambled as it gingerly scooped you up in bridal carry which honestly made you feel very weird. "Don't worry I'll get everything ready. You just rest up so we can play tomorrow!"
You grunted noncommittally in response. Sun was somehow okay with your lack of words to him, filling the silence with idle chatter as he carried you to a little nook out of the way. It was perhaps easier than it should have been to tune out his loud tinny voice.
As your host carried you across the day care you noticed a he was taking you to a small, slightly darker corner. The nap area you assumed by all the pillows and blankets.
Gently Sun set you down on one of the foam mats before snatching up the nearest pillow and putting it under your foot to keep it elevated. Then he started darting around gathering blankets and plushies and piling them on top of and around you until you were effectively sounded by a nest.
"It's a bit bright to be sleeping don't you think?" You finally muttered. Despite this corner being less eye gouging than the rest of the daycare it was still very bright.
Sun paused his movements, stilling in that unnatural way he sometimes did.
"Oh don't you worry about that, the lights will be off soon! Then… Moon will be out to watch over you." The last sentence seemed a bit restrained than you were used to from the solar animatronic.
The thought of meeting his counter part again, of that thing watching you sleep spiked your anxiety. That would actually be worse than trying to sleep in the light.
"Actually the lights are fine," you didn't intend to sound desperate but there was no hiding the fear in your voice.
Sun tutted, kneeling down to pat your head. He was so massive it really did make you feel like a child, "As much as I would love to stay up all night with you New Friend I don't have control over the lights at night."
"But… I thought that was a rule…?" You tried, clinging desperately to anything you could think of.
Moon may not have hurt you himself but you had no doubt that he could.
"Oh yes! No unscheduled operation of the lights. A very very important rule." Sun clarified which annoyed you.
There was a sort of pattern emerging you noticed. A strange break between him and his programing.
There were times where he seemed almost human, then there were times where it sounded like he was reciting off of a script. You weren't sure which was real or if maybe you were just reading too much into it.
"Come back to me~" Sun sounded softly causing you to zone back into the conversation. "My goodness where do you go when you look like that?"
You shrugged self consciously, before burrowing into the nest he'd created.
"Alrighty then!" The animatronic got to his feet, putting his hands on his hips and looking around the day are. "You just sit tight, I have some cleaning up to do before Moon comes out and if you're really good he might even read you a story! Doesn't that sound like fun?"
You cringed at the idea. You had never been read a story before, and you didn't want to start. It felt so childish… but then the attendant apparently saw you as a child for some reason.
You watched your captor skip off to go clean and you casually looked around, gauging how far you could get on your busted ankle.
The truth was there was nowhere to go. The slide leading up to the walkway was a no go. The main gate was locked and even if you did get passed it there were stairs. You were effectively trapped until someone came to your rescue.
Despite the inherent fear that hung around you, a huge yawn managed to escape as you realized you were feeling drained.
Exhaustion from the days events pulled at you and while you were in an unfamiliar place, the nest was comfy. You were completely surrounded by soft toys, blankets and pillows making an incredibly cozy space. It some way's it was even more comfortable than your bed back home.
Your eyes drooped, despite the glaring lights.
What harm was there is sleeping? Maybe things would make sense when you woke up. Maybe the situation would resolve itself.
Your mind drifted as your body relaxed. You didn't hear the sound of the daycare powering down. Didn't register the lights flickering off or the grunt and grumble off to the side.
You were dozing, oblivious to the changes even as your new care taker stalked closer…
~~
Moon crept over to your sleeping form, making sure he didn't accidentally awaken you. He could tell you weren't quite asleep yet, but he would change that.
There was some clicking from inside his chest before his music box sprung to life, filling the oppressive silence with a soothing melody.
When was the last time he got to play it? Not for a long long time that was certain. It was a small miracle that it still worked at all.
Moon watched your features relax further, you mind sinking ever further into sleep.
Unable to help himself, Moon kneeled down next to you much like Sun had done and brushed a stray strand of hair out of your face.
When was the last time he had gotten to be near a sleeping human? Having something to protect again made his processor hum in delight. He felt whole again.
New Friend…
Tomorrow you wouldn't be new would you? They would have to come up with a new nickname for you. Friend was always a good option but felt a little impersonal.
You gave a big sigh and turned slightly to the side, snuggling to the pillow and Moon retracted his hand. You were finally in the depths of slumber, right where you should be.
The animatronic glanced up to the twinkling, glowing stars on the ceiling, enjoying the peace.
Where it all began...A small rant on my entering the fandom
So we have just under a week left until the movie comes out. *fangirl screams!!!*
I joined tumblr on October 30th (has it really been less than a month???) *feels like longer!*
I started trolling around the ROTG tumblr fandom in July/August--e-mailing myself links to pages that I liked. *watching from a distance but loving every single one of you!--in a non stockerish way ^_^*
I saw the very first teaser trailer back on March 28 from comicbookmovie of all places! *thought it looked kinda cool and looked forward to seeing it...but it was so far off...*
I heard about the movie sometime earlier this year or late last year. *I wonder what this is?*
This has been an epic ride people! I never want this to end! Thank you all for being so awesome and welcoming! I love all my followers and I never dreamed I'd have so many! I know it's only a small fraction compared to some of you guys on here (but hey, you've been here longer) but they mean so much to me. It means that people pay attention to what I say online and it's a wonderful feeling! I hope everyone feels the same way about their followers!
I have this fantasy that I'll go to the theater and somehow someway there will be another tumblr fan on here and we'll recognize each other (those cut-out bracelets that were posted the other day are a really good idea!) and we'll pack in together and fangirl till we die! *and by the way I'll be visiting family in Western Washington for the holidays after my finals are done--Dec. 10th--so is anyone else in the area?
