What if all the Sonics in your AUs accidentally swapped their Tails? (This came up when I started thinking about how Baby Tails Sonic would react to Teenage Tails)

this answer is gonna have 3 different sections for each swap as im doing this with my big 3 au’s (aka baby tails, teen tails, and infinite tails…. i need better names for these)

baby tails!sonic and teenage tails

this would be the most lighthearted of them, i think. just two 15 yr olds who are used to each other being very different. they’d mostly likely just learn about each other’s universe and compare and contrast. it would probably just feel like a glimpse into the future or past for them

(this is the only one i have some doodles for 😭 wish i had some for the others but alas i do not)

infinite tails!sonic and baby tails

this is the most melancholic crossover for hopefully obvious reasons. we have a sonic who’s tails has been corrupted into infinite and tails as a toddler, what could go wrong?

for sonic, this is some kind of escapism. he knows this isn’t his brother, but it’s still a tails. he cant held but stare into his baby blue eyes as the kit goes on and on about a random topic he learned about the other day, wishing that this was his reality; that his tails was just a happy and curious little kid and not a corrupted shell of his former self being used as a puppet.

he knows he’ll have to go back to his prison cell universe eventually, but until then he can pretend that everything is ok. just for a little while

meanwhile tails is just happy to be here! he can tell this sonic all about where he’s from and his friends! and how he recently dismantled the toaster all on his own! he just doesnt know why sonic is so tired. or why he keeps apologizing to him

adult sonic and infinite tails

i think this could go several ways depending on where in the timeline it is

i dont have a lot for if tails is currently infinite. i think adult sonic would have a very similar reaction to how that universe’s sonic’s would be, if not a little more controlled considering he’s much more mature and knows not to just throw himself at infinite hoping he can power of friendship his way out of this (no offense infinite tails!sonic…)

infinite would be intrigued, to say the least. he wouldn’t attack him, he’d just talk. i think tails’ curiosity would overpower eggman’s control here and he wouldn’t even consider how information about the multiverse could be used to benefit the eggman empire until later. ofc that’s not to say he’s acting like tails, just not as threatening

if this is a post ruby tails, i think this sonic would do a better job at comforting tails. he’d much more emotionally intelligent, doesn’t run from difficult conversations, and also doesn’t have fresh trauma related to the topic (again, no offense to infinite tails! sonic. that guy went through hell and is also 15-16 so i cant really blame him)

tails, when hes not feeling his mind is about to implode on itself at any second, would be sooooo curious about this guy. his body may be repairing itself after nearly dying because of a magically gem that was embedded into him but by gaia his pen and paper will be out and he will be taking notes
