hc (also kinda a fact) mello really likes true crime and history and is always seen reading true crime and history books and is also a really good writer. was usually writing in wammy’s house and got praised for it a lot, stopped writing when he joined the mafia. but after the explosion he didn’t really have much to occupy himself with except thinking about the gosh darn kira case so he kind of wrote here and there and then remembered the los angeles bb murder cases story L told him when mello was like 12 or 13 and was SO exited and happy to write about it because it was 3 of his favourite things: writing, true crime and praising L
