#i finished Lockwood & Co series a few weeks ago #i absolutely love the series #i watched the show first #loved it and went to the books #which i also loved #and that got me in a mood for middle grade books and slow burn #so i have hope for this series #keeper of the lost cities

I don't have a coherent thesis statement here, I've just got a lot of big emotions about characters struggling to articulate what they mean to each other, and when I read that Hands of the Emperor passage teetering between 'friendship' and 'relationship' it immediately made me think of the Murderbot Diaries passage with the same two words, so... yeah.

#I wouldn't say the two books are similar #they're VERY different in terms of tone and setting and PACING especially #but idk #something about it is pinging my brain...#may only be that HotE is the current book I'm absorbing like a sponge #and MBD was the next-most-recent #the much more obvious comparison is that The Hands of the Emperor has a lot in common with The Goblin Emperor #which I also loved #the hands of the emperor #the murderbot diaries

His art is incredible and he’s done a few videos showing his mistakes and frustrations and I think that’s super important, especially to artists who worry they aren’t where they want to be. Alien Romulus was fucking brutal and I loved it. The soundtrack was chefs goddamn kisses. The feel of the spacecrafts had the vibe of the original Alien. The computers and tech had the same sounds too and it was oddly comforting. This is not a review, I just really loved it and am happy we got some more Alien content.
