I honestly really wish people would treat Azula the same way they treat Zuko, like they really weren’t that different from each other, they both hurt people during their time, Azula was just more open and manipulative about it than Zuko was.

Hm. That’s interesting to me anon because I don’t like the way the fandom treats Azula. The opinions are WAY too extreme. Parts of the fandom consider her an irredeemable monster who’s evil incarnate. Other parts regard her as not guilty of anything she did and see her purely as a victim of everyone and everything... all that and more is why I don’t enjoy the Azula section of the fandom either.

Also Zuko and Azula were different. I’d argue that’s the entire point! That’s why they are written the way that they are and why Zuko finds his way whereas Azula loses her’s.

However, their differences don’t make one less sympathetic than the other. Actually I think that’s what is at the root of such extreme opinions in regards to Azula. Because people can’t seem to reconcile that she was a perpetrator as much as she was a victim of Ozai and the ideologies they were all raised to believe.
