I Could Never Stay Away - Now Complete

Oh dear. It's well into August. When I started writing this fic on a cloudy May day I did not imagine taking 2.5 months and 42k words.

But the good news is - it's now done!

Think of this as GO3 but with all the bits I didn't like scratched out.

Aziraphale doesn't stay away.

Aziraphale and Crowley properly reconcile, but it's complicated, and it takes time, and it's a work in progress because they are complicated beings.

There is no Brian Cameron, I repeat there is no Brian Cameron. (Harry the Fish does make a brief appearance though he's cool).

The Talk

So, I wrote a little thing. It wasn't really planned but happened anyway. @eklmrlos has this (very smutty) comic going on Patreon and I mentioned that I hoped Crowley had had The Talk with The Bentley beforehand. @eklmrlos seemed quite interested to read something like that, and so my brain does what it does when it's supposed to be doing something else, but then a shiny new idea comes along... Well, now there is a very silly, very not-beta-read little story.

@eklmrlos I hope you like what I did with this. 💜

The Talk

Summary: It has become increasingly clear that Crowley needs to have a serious talk with the Bentley. Crowley is taking Aziraphale to the Ritz, so it has to happen now.

Excerpt:

“So,” he says as they drive the familiar route to the bookshop at a leisurely pace, “we’re taking Aziraphale out for dinner.” The Bentley starts playing ‘Earth Angel’ by The Penguins in celebration. “Yes, exactly,” Crowley says absentmindedly, “and we’re taking him to the Ritz. You know how much Aziraphale loves the food at the Ritz.” A happy little jingle plays for a moment before Earth Angel comes back on. Crowley takes this as a ‘yes’. “Only… You know how exceedingly happy Aziraphale gets, when we take him out for dinner, especially when it’s to places like the Ritz—” Another happy jingle. Where did she get those from, anyway? He’s never used the radio once since he got her. [1] ‘Don’t get distracted, Crowley. Get it over with.’ Crowley clears his throat. “Ever since the angel came back, and we patched things up and became a… uhm, a thing, a group type thing… ah, things have changed a little different from before…” Not the most eloquent Crowley has ever been, but it gets the point across. [2] And things really have changed a lot. Crowley doesn’t mind the changes one bit. And surely the Bentley must have noticed the changes. [3] “Yeah, so, uhm… Aziraphale can get very… uhm, affectionate when I take him out to dinner, you see? And with how we are now, that will most likely involve touching of some kind.” No jingle this time, but the song has ended, and now the Bentley plays ‘Every Time We Touch’ by Maggie Reilly. Does that mean the Bentley understands what he’s talking about? [4]

Summers at Northwoods is complete!

The epilogue is now posted and this quiet little story has reached the end of its journey.

SHOW THE WAY - A community theatre AU - NOW COMPLETE!

Good Omens fanfiction. 24k words. Rated M. Read it on A03.

Written for the 2024 Good Omens Theatre Reverse Bang, with concept & stunning art by the incomparable @illustrious-slimeman!

SUMMARY: There was a point in Crowley’s life when he wouldn’t have been caught dead aboard the Metro-North Railroad commuter train bound for the hell that was Connecticut. And yet, here he was. Far enough from New York City so his reputation doesn't precede him and at his latest gig as a lighting tech, he meets stuffy, rules-following, interim-director Aziraphale. But is there room enough in Greenwich for two drama queens?

CW: Mind the CWs at the start of each chapter!! Nothing too graphic. M-rated smut for dessert!

Right under Aziraphale’s chin, he gave the fabric a solid pull and felt it unravel beneath his fingers before moving swiftly on to that stiffly ironed — and was that starched? Oh my god — collared shirt, catching the barest hint of chest hair underneath his fingertips before– “You’ll ask for what you want.” Crowley’s hands flew back as if they’d touched a live wire before he could even form protests on his lips.  “You will ask,” Aziraphale repeated. Stern and steady.

“Why on earth are you up this early?” Crowley yawned. “Come back to bed.”

“Good Lord, Crowley,” Aziraphale blushed, trying not to look directly at the naked form in front of him. “I thought we had a rule!”

The grin on Crowley’s lips morphed into a more mischievous smirk. His eyelids fluttered in a way Aziraphale would have called almost coquettish were it not for the fact he leaned against the doorframe, arms folded but jutting out a hip provocatively.

“Yeah, yeah,” the demon agreed, his voice playful, “no wandering around nude downstairs.”

When Crowley made no moves to remedy the situation, Aziraphale tutted fondly. Such a brat. “And yet,” he replied, “you’re still bare, my dear.”

“Well,” Crowley answered with a languid stretch, causing Aziraphale’s gaze to drift over that lean torso, recalling how well it flexed and undulated beneath his hands, “that was just ‘cos you said it was distracting you. How could I resist?”

A few notes:

I survived!😮‍💨 (Or did I? …Cue thunder…) But I couldn’t have done it without the Storm Jazz (previously Storm Jizz) support group. What started around harlot’s second published chapter as an emotional support group for the fic eventually morphed into a vast network of conspiracy theorists, support ducks, gerbils in trenchoats and the treacherous @ineffablecrankshaft producing what is surely the most devastating piece of art to ever fall before my eyes (I’m still mad at you!) to help (supposedly) everyone cope not only through the fic, but through the angst relapse of an entire podfic (sorry guys!)

You can check out Crank’s dark humored [censored foul language] art at the very end of the podfic by scrolling down, but I recommend you form your own opinion first. As harlot would say, there are no wrong interpretations.

I was blessed with an incredible musician and a series of custom heartbreaking artworks in @paperclipninja and @wingsofopal respectively, as well as a ferryboat full of beta listeners who have helped catch all the little glitches and improvements that I couldn’t have done without.
