@whimscult sent: You sleep, I'll keep watch. / from kyojuro perhaps?
The older hashira's words bothered him, for some reason, like something said to him before, in the haze of his mind. His face didn't show it, save for a small knit of his brow. Anyone who was unaware of the mess his memories were would only think the crease in his brow a sign of the youth disliking Kyojuro's suggestion.
"I'm more than capable of taking first watch," Muichiro pointed out, his voice ever steady, monotonous. There's no offense in his voice, no anger, as if he merely spoke fact. "You needn't treat me as a child. I am a hashira, the same as you."
There were many in the corps that underestimated Muichiro because of his age and small body. He didn't take Kyojuro as one of them, but he did get the feeling that the flame hashira did treat him differently.
of course you're capable. that was never up for debate. ( from kny!qifrey... )
A great warmth spread across Inosuke's chest, a tidal wave that didn't stop until it reached his fingertips. This man had no business making him feel this fuzzy and soft, but Inosuke found himself unable to complain. The best he could do was try and recover a semblance of his usual bravado, through loud words and broad motions of his hands.
"I-I don't need you telling me that, pointy hat man! I know what I'm worth!" As if he hadn't been lamenting about that exact same topic just moments ago.
"Now show me again! Those weird, squiggly things you draw! I know they're different from Breathing Techniques, but they still feel kinda similar..."
As abrasive and impatient as Inosuke could be, he was also an extremely curious child. He could grow bored rather quickly if his latest interest didn't spark immediate results, but he also didn't like to leave a mystery uncracked.
"It's like that thing humans do with quills and books... like writing! But it doesn't look as complicated! And it's way, way more powerful!"

There was something she found very fun about training with Hakuji, how her acrobatic style played so easily against his soryu style of fighting. Mitsuri enjoyed herself when they sparred and, with Hakuji, she wasn't afraid to hold back her own strength. She often found her heart racing and a smile on her face throughout their training.
She really liked fighting with and against him.
She really liked him.
This latest spar ended with her pinning him down, one knee over his abdomen and her hands wrapped around his wrists. Mitsuri gave a triumphant grin and leaned down, pressing a kiss against his lips - just something small and playful.
"I win!"
@whimscult asked:
tanjiro is just setting candied fruit in genya's hands. it's valentine's day. this is the day of love, right? don't you give your friends goodies because you love them? and tanjiro just adores genya!
when tanjiro set the fruit in his hands, genya's mouth started to water as he saw that they weren't just any fruit--they were candied fruit. his eyes would look from where the fruit was to glance down at the younger teen.
"you--got these for me?" he would hold the treats closer to his person, a little tighter in his grip as if they would fall if he wasn't careful. he's never gotten a valentines day gift before, this was something that was new to him.
"i didn't get anything for you.."
by the time she makes it to his doorstep, the rain has thankfully subsided - but the damage is already done. all mitsuri wanted was to surprise him for valentine's - who doesn't love a picnic? - but it seemed luck wasn't on her side.
she wishes she could just brush it off, instantly adapt and figure out a solution to still make the most of the day. if she wasn't almost to his house, maybe she could've turned around and at least change and fix her hair. when sanemi gets the door, all he finds is a frazzled mitsuri with tears welling up in her eyes, jaw tense as her attempt not to cry makes her lips curl up into the biggest pout.
"s-shinazugawa-san." and then there's the voice, immediately cracking, wavering with the impending threat of a sob. "i wanted to surprise you." the basket in her hands feels impossibly heavy even for her, most of its contents regrettably soaked. "i didn't know it was going to rain! ahh, i should've brought an umbrella." she had been so happy when she left, it was the furthest thing from her mind.
"i'm sorry! i ruined it. i couldn't even save the food."
@whimscult / shippy starter call
@whimscult sent: ❝ that's not the worst thing i've ever heard but it's certainly up there. ❞
"And so what if it is?" Genya challenged, throwing his glare at the hashira. "At least I have a plan!"
He's still reactionary, taking Hakuji's words as a slight, despite Himejima's work with him on the anger he carried. It's something he's working on. He takes a moment to center himself, breathing as his mentor had taught him.
"If I can beat an upper rank demon, that has to get my brother's attention. He'll have to talk to me and maybe I can finally have what's left of my family back." Genya looked to Hakuji with a hesitant, but knowing look. "You, of all people, should understand wanting that, right?"
He doesn't know the whole story of why Hakuji joined the Corps, only parts he'd overheard while they were both under Himejima's tutelage. Though it had been a while since the older man got the promotion to Hashira, Genya remembered when they were both still students, just for a short time after the Stone Hashira had taken Genya in.
"You'd do anything to have your family back. So why judge me for the same?"

❛ hakuji ... ❜
koyuki's voice trembles , eyes watering as she looks towards him. it's been so long , she'd almost forgotten what he looked like , what his voice sounded like. she steps forwards on shaking legs , stumbling towards him. she's freezing , covered in dirt & scrapes , but she doesn't care. he's alive & she finally found him , after all this time. her body aches but koyuki wastes no time in practically throwing herself at him , full on sobbing.
he's here. hakuji is here & he's alive. that was all koyuki needed to cling to him , hiding her face in his shoulder as she cries.
❛ you ... you're alive ... !! ❜
finally , she leans back to study hakuji's face , trembling hands settling on his cheeks. despite the tears still in her eyes , koyuki smiles , her dirt-stained cheeks framed by her messy hair. she looks terrible , of that she's sure , but she doesn't care. he's alive , they're both alive , & that's all that matters to her now.
❛ tell me i'm not dreaming. that you're really here. ❜
koyuki couldn't stand it if it was.
