In the pre-internet times, if you had an album that didn't come with liner notes, or if it was a song you had recorded off the radio, you had no idea what the lyrics to songs were.

I'll never forget listening to "It's the End of the World as We Know It" a sentence at a time trying to figure out WTF was going on.
