nah it’s not, i just adore the way it holds humidity and it’s what i use for 80% of my setups since the hardware store is just 8 minutes from my house. wouldn’t mind trying something different for her mental benefit though. she’s gotta check out everything after i clean so coco husk might be super interesting

The husk does pretty well to hold humidity, I find. Grow!t is cheap - it's a compressed brick - I keep the brick in the closet and saw hunks off to rehydrate and fluff as needed. The smell IS something else when it's fresh. Your gal might think it's interesting, Riese hated it. He went from paper towel -> paper towel and leaf litter -> coco husk and leaf litter and while he didn't react to the introduction of the leaves at all, the coco was apparently Very Alarming so he stacked himself into a corner for four days. Then he realized he could dig holes in it and now he loves it.

the smell too, huh? that’s interesting… NORMALLY i’d be ok with her doing this but i literally just changed her mixture not a couple days prior and that in itself is a job considering i use soil/sand and quite a lot of it.

is it a planted viv? if not, screw that crap and switch to coco husk. some risk of staining but i'd rather my snake be a bit browner sometimes than have to deal with pee tsunamis. riese has coco husk with leaf litter over it and he's as content as he would be with earth, i think
