My questions:
1. Worst habit?
Using hobbies to procrastinate from doing real work. And mentioning JRR Tolkien in academic papers.
2. Relationship with parents?
Excellent. My mom is one of my best friends, and one of the best role models I could possibly have. We can talk about Tolkien and Doctor Who and books and music and religion for ever and ever. I love my dad, too, though we don't have as much in common –
3. Best friend?
I don't have one individual best friend. I have a very close group of my four best friends from high school, so them, and my mom, who is (as previously mentioned) one of my favorite people ever.
4. OTP? Your OTP of all OTPs.
Oh god, that's a really tough question. Probably John/Sherlock in general, or Tolkien-canon Legolas/Gimli (I can talk about them in the books for hours).
5. You can have dinner with one person, living or dead, who do you pick?
Professor JRR Tolkien... this is getting to be a bit of a pattern, isn't it?
6. You can sleep with one person, living or dead, who do you pick?
Well... *grin* probably one of the two people at the top of the Freebie Five list, which are currently Jennifer Lawrence and Lee Pace.
7. If you could insert yourself into any fictional universe, where would you go and what role would you choose for yourself? Bystander? Villain? Younger sibling? Whatever you want.
You probably saw this one coming, but I'd definitely like to live in Middle Earth. I wouldn't want to disturb the world too much, so I'd really just like to be a scribe working for Elrond's chief councilor Erestor, in Rivendell. I even know a bit of Sindarin and Quenya already.
8. Three wishes.
I would like to be able to somehow help people who have been betrayed by the system – who have bad parents, who want to do something with their lives, but were denied the opportunities, who need help, who live in places where they are oppressed or poor or in need. I would like to find a career that lets me learn new languages and speak them and write them and analyze them, and then do something wonderful with that knowledge. I would like to see more representation of POCs and people of LQBTA orientation in fiction – I especially want to see characters I love portrayed by LQBTA actors and actors of color.
9. Fictional character you most relate to?
I'd say Boromir, but the reasons for that are pretty complex and personal. So let's go with Steve Rogers. I'm not sure what to do with the privileges I've been given, but I'm very thankful for them, and I love art. (Though a certain polyglot Ichabod Crane comes in a close third here.)
10. Favorite book?
Let's switch it up a bit and move away from Tolkien for one question. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
11. Fuck, marry, kill. Sam, Dean, Castiel. (Thor, Loki, Tony if you don’t watch Supernatural. or just do both.)
I don't watch a ton of Supernatural, but I'd tentatively say Fuck Castiel, Marry Sam, Kill Dean (he seems to be pretty good at surviving that). Ouch, fuck/marry/kill with loveable characters is hard.
Damn – Thor, Loki, Tony would be impossible. I think I'd go Fuck Loki, Marry Thor, Kill Tony. Not that I don't love Tony Stark, but damn, Asgardians... (And Thor's the only one of the three I could handle long-term, end of story.)
