A short short section of Cosmos: ASTO episode 1 really fucked with me since the day I saw it but I've been having trouble formulating what I felt about it. During the section where (~ 39:33) he's going through the last seconds of human civilization as seen through the cosmic calendar, they show Columbus/colonizers going to what appears is the Caribbeans: "it was not even two seconds ago that, for better or worse, the two halves of the Earth discovered each other"

for better or worst? chu mean for better or worst? who looks at colonization, abuse, murder and genocide of the indigenous population as "for better or worst" like damn man do better

how you just tried to downplay the negative impact colonialism had on that half of the planet??
