Who Spiked the Eggnog (we both know who will be the drunk one)
WHO SPIKED THE EGGNOG: One of our muses is a little drunk from too much 'nog and has become a little too jolly. (Specify who or leave it to me!)
Becca’s giggle rang through the room as they sat on the couch, watching The Grinch for the first time. Why had she thought it was a good idea to turn it into a drinking game? Everyone else had a higher tolerance than her, but by the second time the Grinch mentioned his heart being too small, Becca’s head was already feeling light.
“Look, Lo, look! The Grinch is climbing through the fireplace, like -- “ Becca hopped off the couch, running towards her own fireplace and crouching down in front of it, pretending to crawl out. She put a finger to her lips to shush her friends, but then fell down on the hearth, hugging her chest and laughing at how much of a failure her imitation of the Grinch had been.
“I’m not as good a Grinch as you!” she stammered in between each fit of giggles, rolling onto her back and slapping the floor as she laughed. On the TV screen, the movie was still rolling past in a blur of colors that made Becca feel sick, almost like she was on a roller coaster, and on the couch, Becca’s friends were giving her the biggest ‘what the hell are you doing?’ look, but she didn’t even care. The room was spinning, but even so she felt like she was on top of the world.
“Okay, Squirt, come on, get up.” Becca wasn’t sure when Lauren had crossed the room to hover over her, but the sight of her tall friend looming just made her giggle more. “We should have watched Mickey and the Beanstalk, you’re like -- you’re a giant!” Still, Becca pushed herself up to a seated position, where she found Lauren’s hand waiting to pull her up the rest of the way.
She stumbled slightly, falling into her friend and wrapping her arms around Lauren’s waist for support. “Why is the ground moving?” she asked, hiccuping slightly as Lauren started to steer her towards her room. “The ground wants you to move towards your bedroom, Becca, come on,” Lauren urged her, nudging the tiny blonde that was now leeched onto her side in the direction of the hallway that led to her bedroom.
“But -- but the movie’s not over, and I have so much more egg nog!” Becca whined longingly, looking towards her empty cup and where Kelsey and Oliver were still on the couch watching the movie. She tugged Lauren, but it was a weak effort, and her friend shook her head no, steering her towards her room to put her down to bed.
As Lauren tucked her under the covers, shaking her head at Becca’s now sleepy protests and tipping water into her mouth to help her avoid a hangover the next morning, she told Becca, “Next time, we’re doing something more fun than watching the Grinch when we get you drunk, okay Squirt? Because you’re actually pretty hilarious.” With that, Lauren handed Becca her stuffed candy cane to hug onto, turned out the light, and left the door cracked so that she could check on Becca later and make sure that she was still doing okay.
