books on different queer asian narratives??

thanks for asking the first q, sweetheart! sad to say i’ve not been able to handle a lot of theory/nonfiction lately so i don’t have a lot of recs for books on queer asian narratives, but i’ve got a good one for a book that includes (actually, centers around!) a queer asian character.  

it’s called ash, it’s by malinda lo, and it’s a loose retelling of the cinderella folktale. it’s marketed as YA but i don’t put much stock in age restrictions. i have not read it yet (or its sequel huntress) but it’s been on my to-read list for a very long time & comes highly recommended! happy reading.

alex we’re married what else can i say lmao. we text each other about our poops, bullshit thru astronomy class, complain about white ppl, send each other seki selfies and pictures of our bebes at home, bitch about everything/everyone to each other, TU and TD with each other, i mean we’re basically like blair and serena of gossip girl except more fabulous and bitchy and evil. i’m so grateful for our paths intersecting over the summer, bc some of my favorite memories are bc of u! you’re one of the most positive energy people i have ever met! every single time you enter the room i can’t help but smile and feel all warm inside bc u just have this wonderful aura about u that makes me feel safe. like kelatz has said u give off mommy vibes!! u already know ur gonna be my baby daddy lmao

also i love how you’re always down for adventures and for spontaneity! i can always count on you to pop out with me or to just do anything really. you’re always ready to take on the world looking fabulous in your gold docs. even though we joke about being “grandmas” you are constantly influencing me to get up and go!!!!! i mean just think about all the shenanigans we have gotten ourselves into lmao.

you’re honestly just an ELECTRIC person, there is no denying it. everyone i know is obsessed with you (including myself) and they have every right to be. i’m so so so so happy that we became attached at the hip this past summer and that we kept our promise to stay close!! also i think it’s important to mention how easy it is to by myself and talk to you. most ppl give me some kind of anxiety or intimidate me, make me think twice about what to say or how to act, but i feel so comfortable and open and uncensored when i’m with you! it’s very refreshing. we have a one-of-a-kind friendship and you’re a one-of-a-kind person.
