Oh. My. God. I can't BELIEVE you read that story at work, Michele. I love it when you aid in your own torture. *evil laughter* It makes my job so much easier. \o/
Haha I really did bring it on myself. *shrugs* I have free time right now, what else was I supposed to do??
BUT I STILL BLAME YOU FOR EVERYTHING.
EVERYTHING.

I’m sorry if this doesn’t add to the conversation...
fuck yeah, education! this is the first I've EVER heard of people not finding 'transgendered' preferable, and I will absolutely keep it in mind in the future (particularly when people aren't shitting on other trans people for using it)

I'm so sorry, honey. *hugs you tight* Losing a pet is devastating.
*hugs you back* thanks. we just got home a little while ago, and while it was rough, he was clearly ready to go. and I got to sit and hold him for about half an hour before we took him to the vet, which was nice. he just kind of slept on me. poor thing couldn't even stand. I massaged his legs and got them to relax a little, though, since they seemed painfully stiff.
the vet staff were so fantastic. they gave us all the time and space we needed, and made sure to do the paperwork first when we got there so that once it was done we could just quietly leave when we were ready. and they set us up with a respectable and reasonably priced mortuary. his ashes will be ready to pick up by wednesday, and they gave us a very nice wooden urn that doubles as a frame to keep a picture of him in. my grandparents are going to keep him on the mantle for now, but plan to bury the urn once the ground thaws.
we still cried the whole time, but we knew we were doing the right thing for him. we spoiled him for years until he was too tired to go on, and then we helped him rest.
Do you happen to know if there's an age split on the pronunciation of "gif"? My own experience is that those over 30 and/or who have been on the internet since the 90s tend to pronounce it "jif", while under-30s and those newer to the internet tend to pronounce it with a hard g instead. Thanks!
I'm really not sure. Anyone have thoughts on this?
