Hello, I have trouble figuring out what WHODAS 2.0 is? I looked it up online and it confused and overwhelmed me but it makes me anxious to not know something I possibly could because it was on my papers at my psychologist visit. Do you know how to make it easier to understand ? I’m gonna apply for disability soon and I also don’t know if this is information they’ll need
Thanks for your question. I understand how uncomfortable it may be when you’re not exactly sure what something is and aren’t sure if it’s relevant to you.
The WHO Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 or WHODAS 2.0 is basically a standardised way of assessing disability; it tells us how much one’s health condition is having an impact on their life. It does this by asking a series of questions related to physical (mobility and exercise), emotional (self-care, participation), mental (thinking, communicating) and social ( interacting with others) aspects and how much the individual can keep up with their life demands. It can be administered as a self-assessment, as an interview or can be filled in by a proxy.
I suggest that you talk to your psychologist about it. It’s important that you’re aware of what direction your treatment is heading and talking to your therapist can help clear out any issues and facilitate obtaining the necessary resources. Remember that you have the right to know all the information pertaining to your health and that your psychologist is there to help.
