now, a non-exhaustive list of reasons that The Terror AMC is gorgeous, perfect and in every single way better than dan simmons’ horseshit. from a recent binger of both book and show;

every single facial journey jared harris takes you on. just. jesus mary and joseph. right in the heart. 

Mr. Hickey in the book: cartoonish, nonsense, makes NO sense

Mr. Hickey in the show: 

i want to grow up to be mr. blanky. oddly i think he’s the most consistent between book and show and that’s good because he’s perfection itself. rowdy, will fite you perfection

LADY SILENCE IN THE SHOW HOLY SHIT

they just went and made her a fully realized character with her own major arc and gave me feelings like that. and i want to personally thank them. just wow how fucking blessed. 

speaking of face journeys and lady silence. i cannot wait to see more of nive nielsen. such emotion with such *small* face movements and just Soulful Eyes Right At You

like i said earlier i was warned about fitzjames but good god i was not prepared. what is this? a complex character with hearbreaking shakespearean flaws?? who finds companionship and love only on the edge of his deathbed, never to bloom to full romance or realize his potential as a human being??????? who told them i love this heart breaking shit WHO RATTED ME OUT???????

not to get too personal but crozier drying himself out for the good of his men and just. enduring that. forget dying for that man i would attend a crowded social function and make small talk for that man. i would cold call a complete stranger if francis crozier asked me to. 

wasn’t a fan of tuunbaq’s cgi at first but he grew on me. ya great square faced bastard. 

poor fucking lt. little man. he tried. 

mr. blanky’s fucking fork suit i’m. I WILL WALK BACKWARDS INTO HELL, THROW MY LEG AT YOU AND MAKE YOU CHOKE ON MY CORPSE YOU DEMON BEAR thomas blanky. 

my only complaint is there wasn’t enough of the crew being nerds who were all Adventure

i also love how like. the situation and his crew are insane enough to make francis “i’ll explore anything bound to kill me and come back six times” crozier look like the stable and reasonable one. 

look i have the emotional range of a potato but i legitimately shed tears on james’ deathbed

i nearly cried during francis breaking up over thomas but then i mcfucking cried AGAIN because they kept discovering the passage and that was such a great Moment in the book and now it’s still a great moment and i’m

i’m comprimised

it says a lot about what exactly the appeal i find in their searching for what is essentially a useless passage. that the real emotional satisfaction comes from the solitary experience of finding it, the magic of the thing. 

that ending *finger kiss* 

i love the very gothic, soulful horror of this series and i appreciate every single person who made it and i cannot wait to rewatch it over and over again until i can distinguish the background characters and THEIR incredibly sad stories

also uh anybody has research recommendations ya bet your butch is gonna be binging. already ordered the crozier bio but general passage and this specific expedition reccs are very welcome

so hi i love it this is wonderful. all of the raw, exposed humanity in every excruciating degree of awe-fulness in every sense.
