Tonight was my first night working at a barber/beauty school.

I’ve been a licensed barber for the past decade and served as a Morning Barber Instructor for three years before the COVID. For the past six years, I’ve been cutting hair in a barbershop and, most recently, in a private studio. Recently, my wife and I have been contemplating relocating from our desert town to the wine country of SoCal, not only to live but also to establish our own barber/salon. With this in mind, I’ve decided to pursue a career in barber/beauty school, specifically as a Night Barber Instructor. This is driving the desire to make the process of finding a home easier.

I just completed my first shift at the school, and it was an enjoyable and exhilarating experience. Although I was initially nervous, I quickly adapted back into the role. This shift consisted of five hours of theoretical work. It was a long night, but it was also quite enjoyable. Now, I have to endure my first night working with the students and their clients on my next few shifts. I feel confident in my ability to work effectively with the students. My goal is to improve my skills in keeping the student engaged and productive when they’re not working on a client.
