In this front garden the Daphne odora 'Aureomarginata' (gold-edged winter daphne) was well positioned by the path so the early fragrance of the purplish-pink flowers could be appreciated. This compact evergreen shrub has leathery dark green leaves narrowly edged with yellow. The plant needs a fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.
