#VOLUTEERING: CAMPAIGN #VisibleWikiWomen by WhoseKnowledge/ Wiki Commons and Wikipedia.
Guys ! I'm volunteering with Wikipedia and Wiki Commons in the WhoseKnowlegde Campaign which basically consists of giving voice to marginalized people and communities this bringing into the field of bibliographic and "academic" research i.e. on Wikipedia, adding photos in women: black, latina, indigenous, trans and non-binary who do not have a photo, that is, avoiding their deletion and silencing. Wikipedia has a huge gender gap - less than 20% of Wikipedia volunteers (people like me (non-binary/trans, who write articles, add pictures, etc.) ARE WOMEN and we're also missing out on a lot of important content about women. Women represent less than 25% of the biographies on Wikipedia. Below I'll add some links that will help you as I understand more about the process of how the whole campaign works and how to make that photo request so that we can fulfill the purpose discussed above.
