It’s getting worse
“Agh Fuck,”
Zayn cracked an eye open upon hearing the exclamation from Andrew. He waited for the explanation as to why Andrew, who rarely cursed at all, was dropping F words in the middle of the night.
“Z-” Andrew gasped a moment later, a hand reaching out to grab a fist full of Zayn’s t shirt.
“I’m awake Drew, what’s wrong?” Zayn asked, propping himself up on one elbow.
“I can’t- I,” he broke off, groaning. Zayn could see that his eyes were squeezed tightly shut and he was laying on his back, limbs all spread out, back arched, the way he did when his skin got too sensitive.
“You feeling sick love?” Zayn asked.
“N-no,”
“No? Then what’s wrong babe? You look like your skin’s bothering you,” Zayn sat up fully now, careful not to touch Andrew since he was still pretty confident he knew what was going on. He was really confused now.
“It is,” Andrew answered, taking a forced deep breath in through his clenched teeth.
“But you don’t feel sick?” Zayn clarified.
Andrew answered with the faintest shake of his head, trying not to move hardly at all.
“Your stomach doesn’t hurt or anything? No fever?” Zayn asked.
“No,”
Zayn sighed. He always hated to see Andrew feeling like this, but usually it was because of something else. So he could just give him some medicine. Cause if the fever went down or the stomach ache went away, the sensitivity did too. But if this was happening all on it’s own? There was absolutely nothing Zayn could do except sit here and talk to him, make sure he didn’t feel alone.
“Alright, okay, just relax. I’m gonna pull the covers off. Ready?” Zayn knew the drill, he’d been down this road hundreds of times. Andrew gave him the nod of permission, so Zayn yanked the covers off in a swift movement, as fast as possible. Andrew still cried out though, tears starting to fall down his cheeks.
“C-cold,” he whimpered, hands shaking as he recovered from the shock of the blankets sliding across his skin.
“Yeah, I’ll go turn up the heater and be right back,” Zayn said as calmly as he could manage, sliding out of bed and padding across the room to turn on the space heater they kept at the foot of the bed.
“Zaynie what’s wrong with me?” Andrew sobbed as Zayn crawled carefully back onto the bed.
“I wish I knew baby,” Zayn sighed, clenching his hands in fists to stop himself from reaching out to touch Andrew. It was all he wanted, but he knew it would just make things worse. “I’m gonna call your doctor tomorrow, okay? It’s time to go see someone about this and figure it out.”
Andrew just continued to cry. Zayn was fighting back tears of his own. It had never happened like this before. It was getting worse. Something was definitely wrong, and Zayn was terrified, but he couldn’t let on to that.
“We’re gonna figure this out babe, together okay?”
