Mana Khemia works in a way that, the more you play, the more you realize Vayne and Roxis' interactions have the best writing in the game. Roxis' dislike of Vayne is treated as a problem situation, so both of them, like, develop from it, and their Character Episodes show the most characterization from both sides of the relationship. And then every single moment they have afterwards is some mirror image two halves bullshit. Vayne's alchemy works from intuition while Roxis' is rigorously studied. Vayne has a black cat, Roxis gets a light wolf. Roxis' medicine is better, but Vayne's is easier to take. Both of them have a Lot of life skills like cooking, sewing because both had to raise themselves. Etc etc. They have everything and they keep. Getting. More. It's insane. It's unreal.

So of course. When writing the final chapter in the game, the writers asked themselves. What is the worst possible thing. Someone could say to the heavily suicidal Vayne. Right. Now.

And then they made Roxis say it.

During their paired ending.
