I'm against speciesism for the same reason I'm against sexism, agism, racism, and homophobia. Because all beings that breath and feel pain deserve to be treated equally.

Swallowed Souls
Their homes are too small for their bodies- They beg and scream and plead No family, no freedom, no joy They are used for their keeper’s greed They’ve never seen the sun Maybe once or twice at best They are kept in walls of grey So their blood can’t be seen by the rest They are killed slowly with metal shards Their bodies are hung and sliced Their flesh used for consumption Their lives valued, stamped with a price The pain in their eyes is apparent Their suffering- extreme and real Instead of pity, we support these events And their innocent lives we steal
This is the best proof. The first humans on earth had to eat animals because of their proteins, vitamins and the energy they provided since their world did not provide substitutes to it. But now, living in the year 2015, we get the biggest choice of vegetarian foods that provide you with the same things as animal products do.
