[1:27pm] ”I guess this is it?” Mark’s voice was shaking as he looked up at you. All you could do was keep your head down, eyes glued to your intertwined hands, scared he was going to let go. You could hardly breathe, let alone speak. Your heart felt like it was being torn apart every passing second. The ache made you dizzy. Mark’s hand eventually left yours only to gently cup your cheek, making you look up at him. A tear rolled down your cheek the minute you saw the sad smile on his face.
“y-yeah…t-take care, Mark” you let out a shaky breath, voice cracking, “you too, bab-...y/n”. Painful silence wraps around you as you just stand there, looking each other straight in the eyes with longing and sadness. Your stomach dropped when you feel his hands slowly retrieve. Your breathing quickened into gasps when he turned away from you, walking towards the car that was already waiting for him. The last thing you could see were his shoulders shaking with silent sobs before your sight blurred as the tears stream down your face, struggling to choke out the words “Please don’t leave” before it is too late, but he was already climbing into the car, not looking back in fear he wouldn’t be able to hold himself back from running back you.
Why does it still hurt so much when you already knew it was going to end up like this?
