Thinking about how Dorothy's journey would work... So I found a map plotted it out a bit!
This seems to be the map that appears in the movie, I don't know if all the labels are right, but this is the best I can find, so it'll work for now.
So! She starts some ways away from the Governor's Mansion, right in the town square. Luckily no residences were damaged in the storm. Almost like it was specifically targeted on Nessa. Funny, that.
Dorothy sets off from there, eventually finding Fiyero at the fork in the road. He didn't die there. He died in the corn field outside the town square. The Gale Force took his body and put him where people would see.
The left road leads to a ferry that would take you down the river and right up to the Sapphire City, with an optional stop at Turn Town. The right road curves around the Tulip Mountains, leading you to Turn Town, and then you can hit the Sapphire City from there. The ferry would be quicker, but they can't pay for it, so Fiyero guides her through the longer route.
Directly south of the Sapphire City is a forest that I can't quite read the name of (I think it's Piccily Wonkle Wood?????) but it doesn't super matter aside from the fact that that's where Boq ended up! After the spell he just sort of kept running until the rain hit. This is also the location of the Living Trees.
From there the party crosses the Gillikin River and passes by the Forest of Gugu. Kind of. The Forest of Gugu is VERY magic, and it kind of puts itself in their path. The magical nature of the place is actually why the Animals choose to make their escape there, the forest has a habit of making people lost. They have to get through it to get to the railway station Boq knows is just outside of Shiz. They pick up the final party member, Lion, insert Final Fantasy music here!
Between the two animated constructs and the Lion they decide it's probably not smart to try and head into Gillikenny. Instead they have a quick detour through the old poppy field for a rest (I'm sure that has no relevance whatsoever for anyone here and will have no consequences) and after that little adventure they make it to the train.
Side note, this part of the journey is shorter because the trains are elevated. They take the train to the gates of the Emerald City (the station should actually be right at the gates, I somehow accidentally put it too low without realizing), meet the Wizard, the child is given an assassination mission and the metal man has a mental breakdown. Onwards to Winkie Country!
They actually don't follow the road, because it doesn't go directly to Kiamo Ko. The castle is largely in disuse. But they have Fiyero, and he knows where he's going, so he leads them through a couple old trade routes and into the town of Herku. They reach Kiamo Ko from there.
After Elphaba gets Ding-Donged, they head back the way they came. Dorothy leaves Oz right outside the Wizard's Palace.
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions lmk, because this AU is QUICKLY getting out of hand
