It's been an exciting year for us! We made this little card to wish everyone Happy Holidays and Woof-Woof!
This Holiday Season you can win 3 months of Widgetic Plus for free, only by sharing the love with the people you care about on Twitter and Facebook. Share the message "All I want for Christmas is a widget!" with the hashtag #widgetic, between 22 - 28 December and use our beautiful widgets for free starting January 2015 to March 2015.
Share a widget. We thank you!
Happy to announce Widget Sharing. See below in the Editor.
How does it work?
When you publish a widget composition, instead of automatically refreshing the page, we also give you the option to share the widget with everyone. It's easy and the Twitter messages are hilarious, really! :)
Curious? Give it a try!
Branding is live for Basic Accounts
We announced a week ago that today all Basic Accounts will have branding enabled. To remove it please upgrade your account to Plus or Premium. This is how branding looks like today (assuming these users won't upgrade before you check the link): Ouest France.
New Input Controller: Font Style
Today we release a new input controller that has been requested by many of you: Font Style.
You can search for a specific font, or a category of fonts (such as Serif, Sans, Script, Mono, Hand, Decorative). You can also modify the size and the font Style from the same controller.
This list is using the fonts available on Google Fonts. We're looking into integrating other services in the future as well.
You can test it by going to Edit Skin, in the News Ticker.
Feature #7: Payments and SSL
As a Widgetic user you have the option to choose from different account types, which we’ll describe more in depth soon. Today we want to focus on ways you can pay for your Widgetic account.
You might have noticed that we integrated Stripe as our payment processor. Stripe is a reliable and well known company for accepting payments online.
With Stripe we are accepting payments from the following credit and debit cards:
U.S. businesses can pay with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club.
Australian, Canadian, and European businesses can pay with Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
Your credit card number is kept safely only on Stripe, and the pin code is never stored anywhere. When updating your credit card information on the billings page, or when adding your card, the information is sent securely to Stripe and they return the encrypted data to us.
Additionaly, we added SSL protection to Widgetic (https), so that transfer of data is secure between us and Stripe. SSL is a standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a server and a client. SSL allows sensitive information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, and login credentials to be transmitted securely.
At the moment you can only have one credit/debit card linked to your Widgetic account (through Stripe), and we’re not supporting other payment methods (such as PayPal).
Feature #4: Lightbox Overlay
The concept of a lightbox overlay is something many people are familiar with. The basic functionality is that it allows you to open content on top of a website. This is very useful when you don't have a lot of space for your content.
On Widgetic for example you see the sign-up and sign-in forms built this way. We wanted to give access to those forms on any page you visit. You'll also see it used in input forms, fullscreen players and galleries, navigations, and many other use cases.
Today we bring the overlay lightbox to our users as well. To do that we released a sample widget called Photo Overlay, which opens up a lightbox overlay on click / tap. Try below.
Embedding
For this type of functionality the iframe embed won't work. To support overlays on your site, you need to select the script embed option available for every Composition. Make sure you include this code in the header of your site, before you embed any widget using the script embed:
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://widgetic.com/sdk/sdk.js"></script>
Calling All Developers: Widgetic's Beta API is now open for early access
We're happy to announce that our API is ready! If you’re interested to give it a go, register for early access here.
The API will be useful for you especially if you're in one of the categories below:
Developer
Agency
Start-up
Platform (website builder, CMS, e-commerce, blogging system, content creator, etc)
Theme Shop
This is a short list of what you can do:
Create unlimited widgets for your site with one line of code
Integrate the Editor in your site and allow your users to build widgets on the spot
Edit the content of your widgets dynamically
Restrict the widgets skins available in the Editor
Personalise the widgets available for your users
Display dynamic content in temporary widgets
In our own words, you can speed up development by integrating already built widgets into your clients' sites. If you're a start-up this will only speed up development time for your product.
If you are a theme shop, you can greatly improve the themes you offer to your users, by integrating interactive widgets in your designs.
If you're a platform, you can do a lot. For example you can extend your product by allowing your users to create their own widgets in your platform, without having them join Widgetic (optional). You can do this by integrating the Editor alongside the widgets (and skins) you want to share with your users.
There are many use cases, but it's best if you explore them by trying out our API. Get your hands dirty here.
