I'm late to the Wii remake's 17th anniversary 😭

Physically, I'm at work.
Mentally, I'm at the Barcelona nightclub from the 2010 smash-hit Goldeneye 007 for the Nintendo Wii.
I'm both shocked and over the moon that Klonoa is returning, but that in mind, is it now socially acceptable to say I always thought the Wiimake was kinda ugly?
I think parts of it are kind of ugly, yeah. Like I've said before, Namco seems like they didn't really get the results they were hoping for with Klonoa, so they were always trying ways to expand his mainstream appeal. Even if that meant sacrificing some things about the style or personality of those games.
So, yeah. Klonoa's new outfit in the Wii Remake was a little busy. He was a little overdressed. And the visuals were a little desaturated, though I really do think that was done to make it better line up with the way Klonoa 2 looked. The Wii Remake keeps Klonoa's more grown-up proportions from KL2, so I think they were going for a naturalistic look instead of vibrant color.
Where I'm not so sure if I like it is in the cutscenes. The newer cutscenes are better produced, and feature more dynamic camerawork, but something about them doesn't hit quite as well. Especially if we're talking one of the game's rare pre-rendered cutscenes -- obviously the Wii visuals were a noticeable step down, there.
And, um, they still will be, sadly. I'm actually most concerned about the changes to the lighting engine for the cutscenes, because I think that's one place where things like proper shadowmapped lighting would help the most, and that's one of the things the newest Remaster seems to be lacking.

A Japanese kiosk demo for Klonoa (Wii), which features the first two levels of the game.
Differences:
Gives you about 10 minutes to play.
Omits all cutscenes.
The title screen let's you view and read all the tutorial signposts.
Doesn't show the villagers playing music even if you rescue all of them.
If you stand still for a while, the game will reset back to whatever home menu the demo was available on. (Hangs indefinitely on a black screen in an emulator.)
If you run out of time while playing or defeat Rango Lango in Vision 1-2, it'll show a screen saying つづきは君の家で! or roughly "Continue at your house!", since the game was available to purchase at that point.
The files in the demo contains the entirety of the released game.
There was another demo for the game playable at Tokyo Game Show 2008.
