Talking Heads perform Mind live in ‘82, at Wembley. David Byrne is in total top genius/weirdo form; beautiful, quirky vocal and his inimitable preposterous, inspired dancing, or movements, or...? This became part of a 1984 film, which uses some splicing, and so on. I would vastly prefer to see the band only, but, it’s way worth it. By far the greatest version of this song I’ve seen or heard.
Talking Heads with, to me, their greatest personnel ever, in 1980. Adrian Belew (lead guitar) is over the top fantastic/out of his mind, for example, and Dollette McDonald (backup vocals) add worlds o' to the overall sound. This song, from 1979′s Fear of Music, Drugs, concludes the album on a spooky note, and it has never sounded better than right here. Live from the famed Capitol Theatre concert. Such a strange, haunting beauty they achieve.
Lastly, let’s do Drugs again, with the same godlike personnel, this time from the excellent 1980 Rome concert. Equally hypnotic, eerie, and bewitching.
And what good times they have. Or in some cases, strange, “esque” times.
Including............
Powerhouse Personnel for 200.
